Giving Life to old trees
A New York state orchard with stone fruit trees 200 years
old was about to be abandoned due to lack of funding. San Van Aken a contemporary artist stepped in
to preserve the heirloom, antique and native varieties that are no longer
commercially produced.
Through grafting and sculpturing he was able to create his
magical tree of 40 fruit. Spring
blossoms burst into colors of pink, crimson and white. In the summer July through October it produces 40
types of fruit.
