A Holiday Season with no MERRY or HAPPY

The holidays are a time for many to grieve the loss of their loved ones.  Remembering the last time you celebrated with them or thinking that you will never be able to celebrate with them again can be devastating.

Everywhere you look there are decorations and signs saying Merry or Happy and you are just not feeling it.  People may tell you it has been long enough that you should get over it.  They don’t mean to be harmful they just don’t understand.

Make a plan of what you do not want to do and share it with your family.  The American Hospice Association says for many, the anticipation of a holiday is worse than the actual day.  They have a coping with the holidays checklist that may help.
